Who’s going to Korea?

What are you doing in Korea?

I’ll be teaching Craft Design at Keimyung University. You can google it. They have an English website.

What do you mean by “craft design”?

It’s design based in materials traditionally referred to as crafts. In the department at Keimyung they teach 4 different materials: fibers (what I’ll be teaching), metals, ceramics and wood.

Where is Keimyung University?

It’s in Daegu, S. Korea, and about 150 miles SE of Seoul.

When are you leaving?

I’m leaving Savannah on July 31 and leaving the USA (from Denver) on August 14.

When are you coming back?

I bought a one-way ticket, so the return is TBA. What I do know is this: I signed a two year contract, but I hope to come back for a visit in the middle.

How are you feeling about going?

Excited and totally terrified at the same time, + really sad to say goodbye to friends and family.

Why are you doing this?

Well. . . good question. True statement: I wasn’t looking to move to the other side of the world right now, but I’ve always wanted to, as sort of a back-burner dream. This job opportunity at Keimyung came across my path in April and after a week of prayer I decided to apply. After that, the Lord has just opened up all the doors AND given me the confidence to walk forward (which is huge!). I’m going for the adventure and opportunity to live in another part of the world. I’m also going for the opportunity to teach in my field, learn from other artists and make art with new inspirations. It all makes sense to go and seems like a wise move, but I wouldn’t have the guts to do this if I didn’t know the Lord was right here with me. That being said, the above question and answer are still true.

Can I come visit you?

Yes, definitely!! I have no idea what my apartment will be like, but I know I’ll have one and you are welcome to stay with me.

What’s your address going to be in Korea?

I have no idea.
